A useful alert should be early enough to help without pulling the rider's attention back to the journey too soon. MetroPing lets each passenger choose that balance.

MetroPing screen for choosing an alert one, two, or three stops before the destination

Choose one stop before when

The route is familiar, you can get ready quickly, and you prefer a reminder closer to the destination.

Remember that the time between stations varies. One stop can feel longer on one section of a line and much shorter on another.

Choose two stops before when

You want more time to finish what you are doing, put belongings away, move toward the door, or check the next part of the journey.

Two stops can be a useful middle ground for riders who want preparation time without an especially early interruption.

Choose three stops before when

You are on an unfamiliar route, travelling with luggage or other passengers, changing lines, or simply prefer the earliest available warning.

The earlier alert gives more time, but it also means MetroPing will ask for your attention sooner.

Treat the alert as an additional reminder

Underground location and device background behaviour can affect timing during the beta. Continue to use train announcements and station displays as backups.

If the chosen timing still felt early or late, include that setting in your beta feedback. It helps separate a preference from a detection problem.

THE CHOICE

Pick the amount of preparation time that feels useful to you.

There is no universal best setting. The right alert is the one that fits the rider and the journey.
