Why the app cannot simply stop checking

MetroPing needs enough location updates to estimate progress before the selected destination or interchange. Checking too little may save power but make the reminder late.

A useful battery report includes the phone model, operating-system version, approximate journey length, whether the screen was mostly locked, and the battery level before and after.
