MetroPing does not ask a rider to learn a new metro system. It turns a selected route into a personal destination and interchange reminder.
The four-step journey
The app keeps the setup deliberately short so the active journey can do the quiet work afterward.
- 1. Select the stationsConfirm the starting station and choose the destination.
- 2. Choose the routeCompare fewer stations with fewer line changes and pick the route that suits you.
- 3. Choose the alert timingAsk for the reminder one, two, or three stops before the destination.
- 4. Start the active journeyFollow progress when you want, while MetroPing prepares destination and interchange alerts.
What happens after you press start?
MetroPing uses the selected route and the phone's available location information to estimate journey progress. The active journey shows the next relevant station and the remaining stops.
With the required permissions and device settings enabled, the journey is designed to continue when the screen is locked or the app is in the background.
What the beta still needs to prove
The flow is simple; reliable real-world timing is the difficult part. Underground location, background restrictions, and different phones can affect an alert.
That is why the most useful feedback is specific: did the destination or interchange alert arrive early, late, or on time?
Set the journey once. Check the route less.
MetroPing is an additional reminder, not a replacement for train announcements or station displays.
