A product can be genuinely useful without being necessary for everyone. MetroPing is aimed at a specific moment and a specific kind of passenger need.

The riders MetroPing is designed to help
The common need is not a demographic. It is wanting to focus on something other than monitoring the route.
- People on unfamiliar routesThey may not know how quickly the important station is approaching.
- Regular commuters on longer journeysThey may want to read, work, listen to music, rest, or use another app.
- Passengers changing linesThey may want time to prepare before an interchange.
- Riders in crowded coachesThey may be unable to see the display or station signs clearly.
Who may not need it
A rider taking a short, familiar route while already watching the journey may gain very little from another reminder.
That is not a product failure. MetroPing does not need to replace a habit that already works for someone.
The two needs behind the product
Reassurance asks: am I getting close, or could I miss my station?
Attention asks: can I stop checking the route and focus on something else?
Useful for some journeys. Unnecessary for others.
The beta is testing whether enough riders have this attention problem often enough to keep using a personal reminder.
Try it on a real Delhi Metro journey.
